BASEBALL/SOFTBALL STRATEGIES

Baseball and Softball players require a totally different approach to conditioning and fitness. Their programs and exercises should not only be sport specific, but position specific also.

Conditioning is different due to the various positions played and the related skills required. Minor changes in the selection of specific exercises can make the difference between optimum and average performances.

Consider this, in baseball/softball; you may have all-around players, everyday position players, the utility person, fielding specialists (defensive players), hitting specialists (designated hitters, pinch-hitters, etc.), base running specialists and pitchers (starters, long relief and closers). Each requires different skills and thus different conditioning protocols.

There are movements that are common to all players and positions. Improving the skills and performance of these common actions allows us to include basic exercises for all positions. A bit more difficult is including or eliminating those exercises that we consider "position specific" or may hinder performance.

Every ball player will benefit from our conditioning program. This program is a full body, overall program designed for the sport. When we design for the specialized position or role, then specific exercises must be included.
